It's Not A Change In The Law That's Needed...

...it's a change in the attitudes of the public sector:
The DPP revealed the change in tactics yesterday as he responded to the criticism and said he will not hesitate to call for a change in the law.
Pointless. Utterly pointless. Yet more evidence (as if it were needed) that Kier Starmer is as much use as a chocolate teapot...
Ann Clwyd, a Labour MP whose 2003 FGM Act bans girls being taken abroad to have the procedure, said teachers, doctors and police had shown "a lack of sufficient will to confront minority ethnic groups on such an issue".
She added: "It's very nice to get a law through Parliament, but if it isn't acted upon, it isn't worth the paper it's written on."
Starmer's solution? Try a different law!
Mr Starmer said he did not want to repeal existing anti-FGM laws, as that would "send the wrong message", but he conceded "the legislation clearly isn't nearly enough on its own". His FGM "action plan" also pledges to "explore whether evidence to prosecute offences under other legislation is possible and may be easier to support".
He targeted the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act, which creates an offence of "causing or allowing a child or vulnerable adult to die or suffer serious physical harm", as route to tougher action.
Clearly, a man who only has a hammer to solve his problems...
An Association of Chief Police Officers spokesman said: "Detection can be difficult because some children are exposed to the practice before they enter the schooling system. There are dedicated officers working in this area and police will investigate where there is information that such practices are occurring. Officers are working with community representatives to highlight serious health issues that can arise."
Stop 'working with community representatives' and start arresting them!

If it helps to get your outrage on, try to imagine they pinched some 20 year old starlet's bum 30 years ago...

And stop hiring public health workers from the cultures that tolerate this:
I moved to England in 2011 and, through my work, I have seen women, some Somali, who have needed to have an operation [deinfibulation] to give birth. But when they come back for a second child they have again been sewn up [reinfibulation], so it is possible they are having FGM in the UK. I want to help other ladies. I feel complete but I don't want girls to go through this.
That's a quote from 'Aissa Edon, 30, a midwife working at Ealing Hospital, London.'

What does she do with her information, other than give it to a newspaper reporter? Perhaps a few high-profile trials of those who turn a blind eye will do the trick.

I suggest we start with Aissa.

" They come here because it is so colourful, exciting and lively..."

"..., but when they’ve been here for a bit they want to make it just like back home."
No, no. It's not what you think!
Stereotypically, they are hard workers, miserly, and fastidious doorstep polishers, and they have flooded the trendiest part of Berlin with yuppie residents since the fall of the city’s infamous Wall over two decades ago.
The newcomers hail from a wealthy region in Germany’s south-west called Swabia. But their presence in the capital has now provoked a furious outburst from one of the country’s leading politicians, who has accused them of importing nauseating provincialism to metropolitan Berlin.
Quite a turn-up for the books, eh?

You'll Pardon Me If I Treat That With Scepticism?

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said Magag does not represent a ‘direct threat’ to the public.
Eh..? Then why's he under a Terrorism Order?
Magag travelled to Britain as a refugee aged 12.
His wife continues to live in a London council flat.
High Court documents detail how Magag, a married former train conductor and father of five, is closely linked to the Al-Shabaab group. He was arrested in 2007 after returning from an Al-Shabaab terrorist training camp he attended with Bilal Berjawi, a close friend. Magag was detained in Nairobi and found to be carrying three new mobile phones and over £3,000 cash.
While being held he tried to destroy phone numbers by eating a piece of paper. The following year, police in London stopped Magag and found he was carrying £1,000 in cash. Detectives believe the money was for terrorist associates.
He was also accused of sending associates to Somalia to join terrorist fighters by providing money, false passports and other documents.
You're having a laugh!
David Anderson, the independent reviewer of terror legislation, said no security measure is ‘foolproof’.
He said experts believe there may be 50 British fighters in Somalia, adding: ‘Worst case, there could now be one more – an influential one.’
Speaking about T-Pims, he said: ‘The only sure way to prevent absconding is to lock people in a high-security prison.’
Or perhaps we could deport them back to Somalia?

A Coroner With Cojones!

The hearing heard about a series of violent incidents, including assaults and a hit-and-run, which North Staffordshire Coroner Ian Smith condemned as "stupid drunken criminality".
Mr Smith ruled Mr Ellahi, who he said was "no stranger" to the criminal courts himself, had been a "willing participant" in the brawl which cost him his life.
Wow!

Not afraid to stand up in the face of 'community pressure':
A charge of manslaughter brought against Munro was dropped following the unrelated death of a key witness.
This left members of the Asian community, including Mr Ellahi's family, angry that justice had not been done.
And not afraid to simply sit there while partisan witnesses get their story in first, either:
The inquest heard a number of differing accounts of the fight.
While memories may be less than perfect after two-and-a-half years, Mr Smith said some witnesses had been "unreliable and unconvincing".
We need more coroners like this!

Once Again, No Humans Involved...

A 26-year-old has been convicted of playing a part in the killing of Derby father Johnny Assani.
...
The 43-year-old father was left lying, unconscious and bleeding, on the ground in Walbrook Road, after being punched and kicked by up to 11 men. Mr Assani, of the Pear Tree area, died in hospital the following day, on August 15 last year.
But wait!
The incident began in Upper Dale Road when Mr Assani, who was driving a silver Golf, overtook Mohammed Shahid, who was in a white BMW.
Mukhaila told Nottingham Crown Court that, as his father was about to go straight across the Cavendish Island, Mr Assani noticed the man in the car behind, which was turning left, swear at him, so he went all the way round and followed the vehicle.
Shahid stopped his car outside his home in Walbrook Road. Mr Assani, of Harrington Street, Pear Tree, pulled in front of him, got out of his vehicle and walked over to Shahid, who was still sitting in his car.
Hmmm, not a totally innocent party, then?
A man superglued the front door lock of his ex-girlfriend's home when their relationship broke down.
Johnny Assani also twice turned off the electricity supply, broke two windows and made "controlling and unpleasant" messages to the woman, Derby Crown Court heard.
He was given an 18-month community order and told to pay £450 prosecution costs.
A restraining order was already in place which bars him from approaching the woman, the court was told.
I guess I won't be needing this..

Promoting ‘Peace, Harmony And Diversity’..?

Well, keep doing this:
The Karimia Institute took over a former children's care home in Radford Bridge Road and have developed it into a prayer centre.
Nottingham City Council looked at the development in June last year and decided to give it planning permission for a year's trial.
Since then, more than 20 neighbours have sent letters to the council complaining about traffic problems. They claimed that allowing the institute to continue would make the problem worse.
One resident, who didn't wish to be named, said: "It has caused a lot of traffic build-up near the Crown Island and there's a lot of on-street parking caused by the centre, too.
"Some of the drivers turn in people's drives, slam doors late at night and I feel quite let down that the council have given this permission."
And then don’t be too surprised at more instances of this:
A muslim family who had just moved into a new home are "disgusted" after a cross wrapped in ham was set alight and left on their doorstep.
Always assuming, of course, that it’s not a hoax, as so many other such incidents have proven to be in the past.

And no, that’s not to condone such an act, but merely to point out that you favour one group over another at your peril. Sooner or later, people start kicking back.

This Is Utterly Outrageous!!!

Pupils could lose their place at a London high school if they talk (sic) their native language to staff.
Winston Churchill High School in Bethnal Green says if youngsters speak their native language twice they will be sent to deputy headteachers John Doe or Jane Doe.
If they don’t start using English, their parents will be called in to meet head Enoch Powell to “discuss their child’s future in an English school.”
I…what?!? But….diversity! Multiculturalism!
And if they speak their native language three times in lessons, the youngsters lose their free time – and will be handed a language card to monitor their future use of English.
The school’s 800 pupils are also being told not to speak their native language in corridors between lessons, and during play-times.
OMG! How do these people justify themselves?
Deputy head Mr Doe, who is also a former pupil, said: “This isn’t anything new. We’ve always done this, it’s just making it formal. Winston Churchill High School is an English-speaking school. That is what it stands for. ... If the parents feel they don’t want to send their children here, they have a choice. Of course, we want them all to stay at our school.
“Parents make a choice to send their children to Winston Churchill High School. It’s nothing more, nothing less.”
That’s astonishing! This blatant disregard for our modern, vibrant, multicultural society is breathtaking!
Headteacher Enoch Powell insisted the system had the support of pupils. He added: “Fluency in English is an absolute requirement to enable our students to attain their full potential. In our efforts to increase the use of English in lessons and socially around the school, a system which monitors, congratulates and disciplines pupils is being implemented.
“The new system has been brought into place to ensure consistency throughout the school and to make parents aware of the steps the school will be taking.”
Surely the local councillors are up in arms about this?
School governor and London councillor Arthur Dent said: “It’s an English school so there is an expectation to speak to each other in English at all times.
"The whole ethos of the school is one of encouragement. They are doing this in a friendly way, not in a threatening way."
Oh. Well, maybe the unions..?
An UCAC teaching union spokeswoman said: “Winston Churchill High School is taking its duties to create well-educated English-speaking individuals seriously, and most parents will appreciate that.
“Presumably, one of the most important reasons in parents’ minds when choosing to send their children to the school is that the children will become fully English-speaking.”
Amazing. There’s hope for our country yet, is there?

Note: I might have made some minor amendments to the names and details in this report…

Oh, This’ll Mean War!

Mothers with buggies and tourists with unwieldy suitcases are to be targeted in a new campaign to give wheelchair users priority on buses.
INCOMING!!!!

Just imagine the fury of the mums with their giant buggies? It’ll be awesome to behold as they are told they aren't a priority. The tourists will just shrug and say ‘Que?’…
Bus drivers will use their PA system to ask other passengers to move aside — and will not be allowed to drive off until they have done so.
The wording’s ambiguous – will not be able to drive off until the passengers have moved accordingly?

Or will not be able to drive off until they've ticked a box by asking, no matter what the response is..?
TfL officials said that the dedicated space, usually in the middle of the bus, was the only place where wheelchairs can travel safely.
They pointed out that on most buses there is room for both a wheelchair and suitcases or a single buggy in the reserved area. But where there was not, the buggy would have to be folded and suitcases moved to storage racks.
I can’t wait for this policy to provoke more BusRage amongst London’s vibrant population…
One Londoner said passengers made her feel uncomfortable when she used the allocated wheelchair space. Zara Todd, a youth worker from Merton, said: “People make you feel guilty for having to ask them to fold their buggies. Drivers find it awkward to ask them because of the fuss that it can cause.
“They think they are entitled to have the buggy unfolded. I understand that it can be time-consuming but I can’t fold my wheelchair. I have no choice.”
Good luck with expecting the unreasonable to suddenly become reasonable because there’s a poster up, love.

Don’t, Y’Know, Rush Or Anything…

A spokesperson for the council said: “Our planning policies promote the development of the Abbey Mills site for a mix of residential and employment uses, to create a new local centre near West Ham station.
“The Riverine Trust gave assurances at the public inquiry in February 2010 that the site would be redeveloped within two years according to these policies and a mixed-use application would be submitted. It voluntarily committed to this in a legally binding Unilateral Undertaking that meant the Trust had to stop using the site as a mosque and demolish the existing buildings if it failed to comply.”
So, were council lawyers eagerly awaiting March 1st 2012 to see if the undertaking had indeed been taken seriously?
By the end of February 2012 deadline that undertaking had not been complied with; the site was still being used as a mosque, no buildings removed and no mixed use planning application submitted.
Ah. So, it’s now reported that:
It has lodged papers at London’s High Court and is waiting for a hearing date.
Nine months..?!?

That’s how long it takes for them to wake up and smell the (Arabic) coffee?

Trouble ‘Oop North!

Labour party members in Rotherham protested against the decision to field an "outside" candidate in the forthcoming byelection by staging a mass walkout from the final selection meeting.
Whoops!

This is, of course, the Nov 29 by-election prompted by the resignation of the latest MP expenses cheat, McShane.

So, what’s their beef? Well, once again, it’s the demand that local areas accept a candidate desired by the high command:
The dissenters said they would now not canvas for the eventual nominee, Sarah Champion, chief executive of Rotherham's Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.
Heh! It’s their ball, and if no-one plays the game without cheating, they are taking it home with them!
"If the NEC [Labour's National Executive Committee] wants to parachute in an outsider, the NEC can come up to campaign for them," said one member who walked out.
"We in the community should have had a say in the candidate. This is not democracy. If they had wanted a woman, they should have told us they wanted a woman, and we would have found someone locally."
Ahhh, you were doing so well right up to that bit. If they had wanted a woman, you should have asked ‘Why?’…

The candidate is herself is just the sort of Labour Party apparatchik you’d expect from Ed’s Special Needs Team:
Putting a brave face on after the bruising meeting, she insisted had not nearly "broken" the Labour party.
"I think it's absolutely right that people want to have their voice heard," she told BBC Look North, "but no, the labour party has not been broken. Mahroof would have been a good candidate, he has got a good, long track record of working in Rotherham, but the party has made its decision."
Translation: ‘It’s right that the little provincial people feel they’ve had their little say, so long as they then knuckle down and do as they are told by us important people…’

A vote-winning strategy, I’m sure you’ll agree.

But it seems that the locally-preferred candidate had less going for him than just the wrong set of genitalia:
One Labour insider said Hussain had been the "red hot favourite" locally but as a Muslim man was deemed too much of a risk to the party in the wake of the child sex grooming scandal involving Pakistani males in the constituency which has prompted far right protests in the constituency.
Oh, dear. The twists and turns of identity politics, eh? Tweeter Mike Broadbent disagreed that this was the whole local party:

Labour was also keen to choose a woman, said the insider, because: "The Rotherham political class is male, male, male."
The South Yorkshire town has never had a female MP, and the Labour council has long been overwhelmingly male dominated.
And why is that necessarily a bad thing? Would they have been better off with, say, Margaret Moran? Or Nadine Dorries?
A Labour source who was at Tuesday's disastrous meeting confirmed the walkout. "People are entitled to their views," he said, "but we need a clean break with the past in Rotherham."
Translation: “The little people are entitled to their views, so long as they then knuckle down and do as they are told by us important people…”

Chef Doesn’t Mince Words…

…offends the usual suspects:
A celebrity chef has come under fire after making "hurtful" comments about the city’s Muslim community.
*gasp* Oh noes! It’s a passage in her recent book that has them upset:
She describes coming off the ring road to escape a traffic jam and becoming lost.
"I found myself in an area where all the men were wearing Islamic clothing and all the women were wearing burkas and walking slightly behind them," she wrote. She said the men would not talk to her "because I was an English female and they don't talk to females they don't know".
She said: "Here I was, in the heart of a city in the middle of my own country, a complete outcast and pariah.
"If multiculturalism works, which I have always been rather dubious of, surely it must be multicultural and not monocultural.
"I can only hope that in generations to come there will be a merging of the cultures and not the exclusion zone that is the ghetto."
What’s ‘hurtful’ about that? I think you’ll find those sentiments are shared by a good many of the population!
Ibrahim Mogra, assistant secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain, and a city imam, said: "How is she judging an entire community on her one-off rare time of getting lost in Leicester?
"I find it very hurtful to read because everybody is working so hard to create a peaceful and happy Leicester.
"It showed a complete lack of appreciation of the fact we are almost two million in this country, doing our bit for our country."
Really? Just what is it that you are ‘doing for the country’, then? Nothing, as far as I and others can see, that warrants this fawning obsequiousness towards your sensibilities...
"When she says that she was in the centre of a city in the centre of her own country, I take objection. This is also my country and this is also my city."
If that’s the case, why do you want to make it look less like the ‘green and pleasant hills’ of England and more like an Islamabad slum?
Mayor Sir Peter Soulsby said: "That is the sort of thing that makes me very angry – when someone breezes in from outside and paints a picture of Leicester that does not have any foundation in reality.
It’s what she saw and felt. How is that somehow ‘unreal’?

The doughty old gal certainly wasn't backing down, or uttering some appeasing ‘apology’ either:
When contacted by the Mercury, the chef, who lives in Edinburgh, said: "I'm surprised any of the people who might object could read what I wrote as it is written in English."

”Some day, a hard rain’s gonna come…”

…but until then, I guess 'anti-vice patrollers' might help!
A member of a group set up to rid city streets of kerb crawlers has been caught slapping a prostitute.
Well, that’s one way to do it, I suppose...
CCTV captured Jordan Tudge assaulting the woman in a takeaway in Normanton.
The footage showed the 24-year-old go into the premises in Normanton Road, approach her and strike her face once before walking out.
Yes, indeed. He sought her out. She wasn’t even soliciting at the time, she was simply shopping.
Maggie Orton, for Tudge, said her client was part of the anti-prostitute patrol set up in the summer, adding: "They wanted to try and keep the streets of Normanton clear of crime and Mr Tudge was even pictured on the front page of the Derby Telegraph as part of that group.
"They wanted to keep the streets clear of prostitutes and drugs and were met by behaviour such as people urinating in the street.
"He feels he has compromised his position as one of the leaders of that group by his actions and he expresses his desire to apologise."
Nicely worded. I’m expressing my desire to have him horsewhipped right now, but you’ll notice he remains unharmed. Sadly.

What's that? You want to see what this He Man looks like? Well, here we are (he's cleverly avoiding Farenheit211's 'Beardred Savage Of The Day' award by ...well...):

Impressive specimen of manhood, huh, ladies?
James McNamara, prosecuting, said the woman had entered the takeaway with two other prostitutes to buy ice cream and milk shakes when Tudge walked in.
Mr McNamara said: "He approaches her and says words to the effect of 'why do you come here? You don't have permission to be here'.
"She turns to ask him a question and he replied along the lines of 'don't ask me nothing' before slapping her face and walking back out on to the street."
I didn't realise you needed ‘permission’ from some gormless-looking street thug to buy icecream. No matter what your profession…

Say… could there be an elephant in this room, perchance?
Magistrate Philip Houckham adjourned sentencing Tudge until November 13.
Why bother? What are you waiting for?
Outside the court, Tudge apologised for his actions.
He said: "It was only a little tap to the face, the kind you would give to a naughty kid, but that doesn't excuse what I did and I am sorry.
"I should have remained calm and composed but I lost my self-control. "There was an air of tension at the time as earlier I had been threatened by a group of men who I approached who I believed had come to the area looking for prostitutes.
"The prostitutes in the street were also being brazen in their behaviour looking for business but, again, that does not excuse what I did."
Yup, I can see the tusks, the grey trunk, the wrinkled skin, all we are missing is the big ears.

Ah! Here they are!
Uthman Ali, leader of the anti-prostitute patrols, said: "At the time of the incident Jordan was not on patrol.
"We have now stopped doing the patrols, which we think worked very well."
You didn't get to stone anyone, though. Never mind. I'm sure you think your time’s coming…

Oh, and as for young Master Tudge, it seems he wasn't even keeping his own area clean of the streetwalker menace - he travelled all the way from Sinfin where he lives, a good hour to walk, to ‘keep the streets safe’ in Normanton.

Don’t they have prostitutes in Sinfin? Or are they just all bigger than him there?

But then, Googling the name, it seems Tudge is quite the travellin' man. Here he is in Derby helping to rid the streets of the 'menace' of gay rights protesters. He must take a lot of annual leave from his no doubt well-paying job to be able to attend all these protests, eh?

You'd think he'd have enough family matters to keep him at home, wouldn't you?

The Mystery Of The Missing Meat!

Thousands of Muslim children have been left without meat in their school meals after the county council suddenly axed its contract with a halal products supplier.
Education chiefs admitted it could take months before a replacement for KQF Foods is found – prompting the Council of Mosques to warn that youngsters’ diets could suffer.
What, by not having meat at school? Feed 'em it at home!
Confusion surrounds why KQF lost its contract, which started in May 2009 and was renewed in April.
Oh?
The move follows an unexpected county council food standards inspection into the composition, labelling and quality of the meat on October 9.
Hmmm....
The company, based in George West Street, Blackburn, said it had not been given full details of the justification for the decision but believes it relates to paperwork. A spokesman added the firm was seriously concerned about damage to its reputation.
The county council has refused to disclose the reason but stressed it did not relate to the meat’s Halal accreditation or health and hygiene.
So, if it's not hygeine, and they aren't passing off non-halal as halal, what's the ...errr... beef, then?
It is understood that the decision to end the contract concerns the precise legal terms between the two parties over the proportion of meat as opposed to water and other bulking products in the halal products following a complaint.
Ah! So, it appears they haven’t been getting that much meat in their diets anyway!

What Should ‘Respect’ Be Doing In A Court Of Law Anyway?

Either you can prove the accusation, or you can’t:
Lawyers for the women said they felt the women's testimony had not been respected during the trial.
It’s not about ‘respect’, it’s about proof!
The women's minister, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, said the case had shown that better education on sex and sexuality was needed in schools.
Oh. Yeah. That’ll fix everything.
The women were hailed by their lawyers for their bravery in speaking out against a "culture of silence" surrounding sexual violence against girls on estates.
Not once in this entire story is the elephant in the room ever mentioned…

How Fortuitous…

Two mosques could now be opened in Purley instead of one. A disagreement within Muslim group Purley Islamic Community Centre (PICC) means a splinter group is also actively seeking its own place of worship, the Advertiser understands.
Splitters!!!
The Advertiser understands the disagreement arose because what is now the splinter group believes there are too many local Muslim families to fit into the former Venture Photography shop in Russell Hill Place.
Monir Mohammed, who remains part of the wing dedicated to the Russell Hill plan, said: "Within groups of people there will always be a number of people who disagree with certain points of view. People will always have differences of opinion.
"Sometimes it is venting frustration or it is a gripe because people can't get their own way.
"However, this new site is a great idea because it may be that they can offer additional services to the community and we could share the burden."
What a reasonable compromise. Who could disagree with two for the price of one..?
